Food Business Registration
Food Supervisor Certificate
At least one person — the nominated contact for food safety inspections.
Food Handler Certificate
Every person handling food.
Public Liability Insurance
Allergen labelling compliance
Required for pre-packaged bread sold in sealed bags. Gluten (wheat) must be declared. Not required for unwrapped bread sold across the counter.
Trade measurement compliance
Only required if selling by weight (e.g. rolls per kg). Not required if selling by the loaf or unit.
Certificate III in Bread Baking
Trade qualification — industry standard for commercial bakers. Distinct from food safety certificates. Not a legal requirement to trade but expected by professional markets.
