My notes:
Seeds (sunflower, pea, radish, broccoli, basil, coriander, amaranth, mustard, beetroot)
Source certified disease-free seed where possible — food-grade seed required.
Growing medium (coconut coir, peat moss, or soil)
Coconut coir is popular — lightweight and consistent.
Growing trays (plastic — shallow)
Perlite / vermiculite
For drainage and aeration.
Spray bottles
For misting seedlings.
Hydrogen peroxide
For sterilising trays between crops — prevents mould.
Water
My notes:
Growing racks / shelving (tiered)
Maximises growing space — essential for commercial production.
LED grow lights
If indoor growing — significant ongoing power draw. Run 16 hours per day.
Heat mats
For germination — speeds up and evens out germination.

My notes:
Punnets (clear)
For cut microgreens — clear so customer can see the product.
Punnet lids
Living tray wrapping (cellophane or sleeve)
Labels (variety name, harvest date, how to store)
Harvest date is important — microgreens have a short shelf life.
Branded stickers / labels
My notes:
Food Business Registration
Food Supervisor Certificate
At least one person — the nominated contact for food safety inspections.
Food Handler Certificate
Every person handling food.
Public Liability Insurance
Biosecurity compliance
Use certified disease-free seed where possible. Some seeds require treatment before sprouting for human consumption — check with your state agriculture department.
Accurate labelling compliance
Variety name, harvest date, best before, and storage instructions — buyers want to know how fresh the product is.
Trade measurement compliance
If selling by weight — NMI trade-approved scales mandatory.
My notes:
Market stall fee
Fuel — travel
Electricity
LED grow lights run 16 hours per day — significant ongoing cost. Factor into every punnet price.
